Cremation

Cremation is the process of exposing a body to extreme heat to reduce it to its basic elements. The family may choose to accompany the body to the crematorium, and even witness the cremation. Families may also choose to hold a service before or after a cremation.

The ashes are then delivered to the family in an urn or container. The family may keep the ashes or scatter them in accordance with the wishes of the honoree. The urn can also be placed in a memorial building or special section of the cemetery.

Some families choose to have the ashes at the cremation service, and then bury them or scatter them afterward.
